This is the base of all dance styles and builds strong versatile dancers, it develops strength, improves coordination and musicality. It is characterised by use of turned-out hip & leg positions, an upright posture and above all the development of grace combined with amazing agility and strength.
Young children love to dance in this style, and it is suggested as a starting style for all students.
Once a good level and understanding of basic technique has been achieved, then study of pointe work begins with the use of demi-block shoes.
A pre-pointe essential, builds the strength in their feet, legs and especially the core of the dancer, learn to carry their weight on full pointe dance on full pointe shoes.
At CCDA we offer Progressing Technique Classes to work on dance & Ballet fundamentals including turnout, leg & Feet extension and building strong cores.
As well as Limbering & Strengthening Class-applicable for all styles-working to make the body ready for more advanced dance genres.
Examinations are available from age 6 years to advanced vocational level, and achieve UCAS points from grade 6 upwards
