Performing with CCDA

At CCDA we believe in encouraging performance to increase confidence, teamwork, self-esteem, as well as technical and creative abilities. Therefore all pupils are allowed to perform at CCDA

Presentation of Awards & Progress Showcase

A performance opportunity for the whole Academy, where pupils demonstrate their progress for parents and friends.

This is combined with the Annual Awards ceremony to celebrate the achievements of all the CCDA students over the past year.

Awards recognise the many skills, & attributes obtained while they progress in their dance journey. We value team spirit, support, camaraderie, progress, artistic skills, musicality, potential, attendance, commitment, confidence development and examination success.

The ceremony culminates with the presentation of the highly regarded Dancer of the Year trophy.

Recent notable events include: – promo for a Pop video, the New Brewery Arts opening, Painswick Wearable Art Festival, the Royal International Air Tattoo Fairford, Her Majesties theatre London, Sadlers Wells theatre London, and Rendcomb 1920s fund raiser for the Royal Airforce.

We give all our students the opportunity to broaden all their dance moves by working with guest current professionals from screen & stage during CCDA summer schools, bootcamps for musical theatre, cheer camps and workshop weeks.

The weeks are a fun part of the summer holidays, spent dancing, getting fit and making new friends. The Bootcamps also give another performance opportunity it’s stunning to see how much can be achieved in just one day, or at the end of a week-long project – they certainly sleep well too!

Summer Show

The Summer Show is the highlight of the year for the dancers of CCDA, and a huge amount of hard work goes into planning and preparing for it every year.

The shows are always fantastic, all the children thoroughly enjoy taking part, and we manage to raise a good deal of money for local charities at the same time. Its great to see the camaraderie of the seniors with the younger children, who will be inspired by their dancing, singing and acting.

There are usually five performances: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening with a matinee on the Saturday afternoon. The very youngest dancers are given the choice of taking part in some or all of the performances.

Learning the dances starts when the children return to classes after the Easter break. Costumes are measured at this point, altered or where need be new costumes ordered. A lot of costume recycling goes on to keep contribution costs low Tickets are available from the Sundial Theatre.

The preparation highlights are the technical rehearsal on the weekend before the show week, and the full closed dress rehearsal on the Monday evening.
